Liebe Freunde,

ich muss euch vorwarnen, ich bin gerade sehr aufgebracht. Auf dem Weg zur Uni haben wir Radio gehört. In der Morgenshow haben sie berichtet, dass die Gefangenen von Abu Ghuraib 5,28 Millionen US-Dollar gezahlt bekommen. Von den Missetaten wurde nur wenig gesagt. Einer der Typen hat dann kommentiert, dass er für 5 Millionen sich freiwillig nackt macht und von Hunden anbellen lässt.

Wer nicht mehr weiß, was in Abu Ghuraib vorgefallen ist, kann es auf Wikipedia nachlesen und auf der englischen Wikipedia gibt es mehr Bilder.

Ich war so aufgebracht, dass ich prompt eine E-Mail an den Radiosender geschrieben habe. Vorher wollte ich noch die Geschichte nachschauen um zu wissen, was wirklich vorgefallen war. Was mich irritiert, ist, dass ich keine deutsche Meldung zu dem Gerichtsurteil finde. Anscheinend wird das von den Nachrichtenagenturen für Deutsche als unwichtig erachtet. Oder ich habe nicht richtig gesucht?

Hi Crew of Channel 94.1,

I want to give you a quick feedback on your show this morning.

At around 8am you reported about the $ 5.28m the prisoners of Abu Ghraib where paid for the hardship they had faced in the prison.

One of you guys commented that for $5 million he would do voluntarily what the prisoners had go through.
In the context of torture and the violation of fundamental human rights, this comment was very offensive and disrespectful. This kind of insensitivity and ignorance is unacceptable. I expect a good radio station to have the facts straight and comment accordingly.

To make fun of a severe situation like this teaches our children the wrong attitude. In my opinion, this guy, who made this comment, should not be allowed to state his opinion on the air.

I’m a German exchange student at the University of Nebraska Omaha. As part of the community while I’m here, I’m very concerned with what is going on and I care about it. I would like to know what you all think of this incident.
